How to find buyers for business data

Compare direct buyers, marketplaces, and intermediaries—and prepare the questions that reveal a real fit.

The first step is to identify the kind of organization that could use your dataset. An AI developer evaluating technical knowledge has different needs from a retailer buying market intelligence. A broad “data buyer” list will mix these audiences.

Start with a buyer use case

Match the asset to a task: product attribute extraction, visual defect detection, or retrieval of specialist documentation. Then look for organizations working on that task. An organization using similar data does not establish that it currently buys third-party datasets.

Understand the three routes

A direct buyer licenses for its own use. A marketplace supports discovery or transactions between providers and customers. An intermediary may help qualify an opportunity or arrange an introduction. Ask which role a service plays and who would sign the actual license.

Distinguish infrastructure from demand

Dawex offers technology for operating data exchanges. That is different from a promise to purchase a particular dataset. Before investing in any platform, establish who brings the buyers, how discovery works, and whether there is evidence of demand for your category.

Ask about the actual buying process

Request the intended use, acceptance criteria, review stages, rights requested, and payment trigger. Ask about fees, exclusivity, delivery, and whether evaluation requires a sample. Treat unpublished terms as unknown and confirm them directly.

Our role at this stage

AIDataBuyer is an independent inquiry and referral project. We collect dataset descriptions to explore possible licensing opportunities. We do not currently publish a verified roster of active buyers, and submitting an inquiry does not guarantee a referral or sale.
